Mike is a commercial director known for performance-driven storytelling and comedy. His work focuses on creating memorable characters and bringing humour and authenticity to advertising campaigns.
A graduate of Victoria University in Wellington with a degree in Theatre and Film, Mike originally set out to pursue acting before discovering that directing offered a more reliable way to make a living. His background as both an actor and a casting director has given him a strong instinct for working with talent and shaping compelling on-screen performances.
Mike has directed major commercial campaigns for brands including IGA, Oporto, RAC, Nestlé, AA Insurance, Telecom, Police, Sanitarium, BP, Dominion Breweries, Fisher & Paykel, Coca-Cola, McDonald’s, Lotteries, Ford and NIB Insurance. His directing work spans multiple formats and platforms, from traditional 30-second television commercials to longer-form digital and branded content.
At the centre of Mike’s work is a love of character-driven storytelling, particularly when those characters are funny.
