About

Lizzy Bailey is a director known for character-driven storytelling that sits comfortably between humour and heartfelt emotion. Her work celebrates the small, human moments that make stories feel authentic and relatable.

With a keen eye for casting and performance, Lizzy creates nuanced and naturalistic films grounded in real human behaviour. Her directing style blends warmth, humour and emotional depth, allowing audiences to connect with characters through laughter, empathy or both.

An alumna of Melbourne’s Victorian College of the Arts Documentary program, Lizzy brings a strong documentary sensibility to her filmmaking, creating work that feels honest, intimate and observational.

She has directed commercial campaigns for brands including Google Nest, Victorian Government, Citibank, Drive, Sunsuper, Kellogg’s, Origin Energy, NAB, Gem Finance and Bonds. Her campaign for Google Nest was named Campaign of the Year by Umbrella, while her work for Guardian Funerals was selected as Ad of the Week by LBB Online and nominated for Campaign Brief’s The Work 2022.

Alongside her commercial work, Lizzy continues to develop narrative storytelling projects. Her short films Yes? and Lil have screened at festivals across Australia, winning Best Female Director at Freshflix and being shortlisted for Best Comedy at the Setting Sun Film Festival. She currently has several new projects in development.
